Inbody Body Composition Analysis
Why test body composition?

Understanding your body composition is key to assessing your wellbeing. BMI (body mass index) uses only height and total weight and does not differentiate between fat and muscle mass.
If you are on a nutrition / diet / fitness programme, to lose or gain weight, how do you measure progress and know if you are losing or adding FAT, MUSCLE or retaining WATER? Or perhaps you are just interested to know how healthy you are internally? Body composition analysis can accurately show changes in fat mass, muscle mass, and body fat percentage, as well as visceral fat and bone mineral density.
I use an Inbody 270 machine. The Inbody is one of the most accurate and advanced weighing and measuring Body Composition Analysers available today and provides you with a sophisticated report that shows bone mass, body fat mass, lean muscle mass, total body water, calorie requirement, BMR/body weight, body mass, metabolic rates as well as normal values for your height based on the World Health Organisation.

Why use Inbody?

NO ESTIMATIONS
Only impedance is used to determine your body composition results; no statistical data or empirical equations are used or required to predict your body composition.

45 SECOND TEST
Measure your fat, muscle, and water levels in less than a minute. No pinching. No discomfort. Simply stand on the device and hold the hand electrodes to test.

NON-INVASIVE TESTING
Safe, low-level currents are sent through the body through the hand and foot electrodes. The impedance the currents encounter are measured, and from there, your body composition is derived. With InBody's patented technology, BIA has never been more highly correlated with gold standard methods until now.

8-POINT TACTILE ELECTRODES
8 contact points allow the measurements to repeatedly start at a fixed point, regardless of where the electrodes are placed, to increase accuracy and reproducibility. This method assists in the ability to measure the body as five separate segments.

DIRECT SEGMENTAL MEASUREMENT
One of the assumptions generally taken in BIA is that the measured body is one cylinder. InBody considers the body as five separate cylinders and can differentiate each cylinder as a separate region, including the trunk.

MULTIPLE HIGH FREQUENCIES
Instead of using a single low frequency, InBody uses a low and high frequency to penetrate the cell membrane and accurately measure intracellular water. By using multiple frequencies, InBody can accurately measure a broad range of body types without imparting a size, age, or gender bias.
